Q: How do you advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion in your leadership role?
A: I am very intentional with DEI in my day to day. At the organizational level, I am always asking myself and my team if our actions are equitable and inclusive of our coworkers and our community, while at the same time, our policies and procedures are a reflection of the good practices of DEI. At the community level, I try to participate in different sectors of the community in general, recognizing my privileges, bringing the experiences from the organization and what we learn and see of being in close contact with the community, and also connecting, to bring services and opportunities for our community.
Q: In what ways can community members and organizations actively support your work in the community?
A: To learn more about our community, our strengths, our culture, and our challenges to understand and support in a respectful and culturally appropriate way. This could be accomplished by participating in events and/or in organizations that work with and support the community. In addition, donating time, talent, and money to groups and organizations who work with the community.
