Peach season is here! Summer is the best time to enjoy peaches, when they ripen in the South and arrive in our stores from our own region of the country.

North Carolina Peaches
Right now our peaches are from Deal Orchards in Alexander County. Lindsay Deal and his family have 100 acres of fruit trees on a scenic mountainside. Read more about the farm here. When the North Carolina peaches end, we hope to continue stocking relatively local peaches from Pennsylvania.
Peach Ripening
Peaches are easy to ripen in a few days if you follow these tips: Don’t squeeze the peaches! Squeezing damages them and creates spots that rot. Instead, buy unripe peaches and cover them with a towel or enclose them in a paper bag. They’ll ripen within a few days. When ripe, they’ll smell like peaches.
Peach Pastries
Our bakers are making peach pastries through August 3. Look for braided peach coffeecake, peach pie, and peach mascarpone tarts in our stores.
